카페·마을버스 승차대, '청년 갤러리' 변신

[지데일리] 카페와 마을버스 승차대 등 지역사회 일상 곳곳에 청년 예술작품 갤러리가 전시돼 시민들에게 예술 향유의 기회를 제공한다.

서울 서초구가 '청년 갤러리카페 지원사업'을 기존 카페에서 마을버스 승차대 광고판 전시까지 확대한다.


2019년부터 시작해 올해 5회째를 맞이하는 '서초 청년갤러리카페'는 청년예술가에게는 작품 전시공간을, 주민에게는 일상 속 예술감상 기회를, 작품 전시된 카페에는 고객 방문 유도로 지역경제 활성화에 도움이 되는 등 1석 3조의 효과를 얻는 사업이다.


특히 지난해에는 청년 작가 60명 모집에 119명 작가가 지원하는 등 약 2:1의 경쟁률을 보이는 등 많은 관심을 받았다.


구는 이러한 호응에 힘입어 올해부터 기존 카페와 더불어 20곳의 마을버스 승차대의 광고판에도 작품을 전시할 예정이다. 구는 청년예술인들에게는 전시공간 확대와 더불어 구민들에겐 거리에서까지 문화 향유 기회를 넓힐 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.


이를 위해 구는 '청년 갤러리카페 지원사업' 참여 작가와 동네 카페를 다음 달 3일까지 공개 모집한다. 

 

대상은 서초구에 주소지를 두거나 활동하는 만 19세 이상∼39세 이하 청년 예술작가 60인이다. 참여를 원하는 카페는 서초구 60㎡ 이상 규모의 사업장 20곳이다. 지원 방법은 구청 홈페이지에서 참가신청서를 다운받아 담당자 이메일로 제출하면 된다.


작품들은 다음 달 전문가로 구성된 심사위원회를 통해 선정되며, 선정 작품들은 참여 카페의 경우 실내 분위기를, 마을버스 승차대는 주위 환경과의 조화 등을 고려해 배치할 예정이다.


전시는 오는 3월부터 12월까지 9개월간 진행되는데, 카페와 마을버스 승차대에 작가 1인의 작품 3점을 3개월씩 3회에 나눠 전시된다. 특히 올해는 심사 시 작가 위주의 포트폴리오 심사로 변경돼 보다 다양한 작품의 전시가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.


향후 구는 선정된 청년작가에게 1인당 50만원의 활동비를 지원하게 된다. 또 하반기에는 올해 서초 청년갤러리카페 사업에 참여한 작가들의 작품을 한데 모은 '청년작가 특별전시'도 관내 갤러리에서 개최해 청년 작가들에게 다양한 기회를 제공할 예정이다.


'서초 청년갤러리카페' 사업은 지난 4년간 총 170명의 청년 작가들의 501점 작품이 카페에 전시됐다. 이 중 30점의 작품들이 카페 방문자들에게 판매돼 총 1469만원의 수익을 거뒀다. 수익금은 모두 작가에게 돌아가 이들의 경제적 자립에 도움이 되기도 했다.


지난해 청년갤러리 카페에 참여했던 정 아무개 씨(23세, 방배동 거주)는 "청년갤러리카페는 전시 기회가 부족한 신진 청년작가들에게 단비와 같은 기회라고 생각한다"며 "카페에 방문하는 고객들과 작품에 대해 서로 얘기하는 등 소통할 수 있어 좋았고, 예술가로써 보람을 느꼈다"고 말했다.


전성수 서초구청장은 "앞으로도 '문화예술도시 서초'에서 우리 청년 예술가들이 원하는 꿈을 펼치도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"고 말했다.

Seocho-gu, Seoul, will expand the 'Youth Gallery Cafe Support Project' from existing cafes to billboards for town buses.


'Seocho Youth Gallery Café', which will mark its fifth anniversary this year, starting in 2019, is a project that will benefit from three sets of seats, including an exhibition space for young artists, an opportunity for residents to appreciate art in their daily lives, and a visit to cafes where works are displayed to help revitalize the local economy.


In particular, last year, 119 writers applied for the recruitment of 60 young writers, drawing much attention, with a competition ratio of about 2:1.


Thanks to this response, the city will display works on billboards of 20 village bus rides along with existing cafes from this year. The city hopes that young artists will be able to expand the exhibition space and expand opportunities for residents to enjoy culture from the streets.


To this end, the city will recruit artists participating in the 'Young Gallery Cafe Support Project' and local cafes by the 3rd of next month.


The target audience is 60 young artists aged 19 to 39 who have addresses or work in Seocho-gu. The cafes that want to participate are 20 workplaces with a size of 60m2 or more in Seocho-gu.,You can download the application form from the website of the ward office and submit it by e-mail.


The works will be selected through a judging committee composed of experts next month. The selected works will be arranged in consideration of the indoor atmosphere in the participating cafes and the harmony with the surrounding environment in the village bus ride.


The exhibition will be held for nine months from March to December, and three works of one artist will be displayed in three times for three months at a cafe and a village bus ride. Especially, this year, it is expected that it will be possible to exhibit more diverse works by changing to a portfolio-oriented examination at the time of examination.
